Telehealth

Use of telecommunications for patient-provider communication and appointments, allowing for diagnosis, prescribing, and transmission of medical information.

Telecommunications refers to any form of communication that uses technology at a distance. 

Video-conferencing

Use of secure videoconferencing platforms for patient-provider communication and appointments, allowing for diagnosis, prescribing, and transmission of medical information.

Some limited physical examination is possible through this medium.

Telemedicine Apps

Use of smartphone and tablet applications to quickly connect patients to a broad range of providers 24/7 allowing for diagnosis, prescribing, and transmission of medical information. Also allows patients to access their medical records digitally. 

Remote Patient Monitoring

Use of portable/wearable devices that transmit vital sign data or information on activities of daily living to be reviewed by a healthcare professional. A range of health data can be monitored including vital signs, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, blood oxygen levels, heart rate, and electrocardiograms.
